Fabien Galthié sets player return criteria and confirms new coaching staff

French national rugby coach Fabien Galthié has outlined the requirements for the potential reintegration of key players Grégory Alldritt, Damian Penaud, Gaël Fickou, and Sébastien Taofifenua into the national squad. Following their exclusion from the recent Six Nations tournament, Galthié established rigorous criteria for their return, focusing on physical fitness, mental engagement, tactical discipline, and the ability to compete with emerging young talent as the team prepares for the 2027 World Cup.

In coaching staff developments, Galthié confirmed that Geoffrey Doumayrou will join the XV de France staff to oversee defensive duties. While Doumayrou's appointment has drawn scrutiny because he does not currently hold the required coaching qualifications mandated by the French Rugby Federation (FFR), the Federation has stated he will be fully compliant by the time he officially assumes his role.
