Fabien Hébert re-elected president of the AFO
Fabien Hébert has been re-elected to a third two-year term as president of the Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario (AFO). The announcement followed the 21st AFO Summit held in Richmond Hill, where Hébert faced two other candidates: Mélina Leroux and Abel Maxwell.
Hébert intends to use his upcoming mandate to implement a community action plan following the “États généraux de l’Ontario français.” This process included over a year of public consultations and the publication of a white paper containing 12 recommendations for reorganizing the Francophone network. He noted that while priorities have been established, significant work remains regarding field implementation and securing funding.
Other leadership updates from the general assembly include the election of Marie-Claude Dicaire (East), Melinda Chartrand (Centre), and Réal Deschatelets (North-West) as regional representatives. Hilary Kemajou joined the board of directors as the youth representative.
