Fabio Canino named Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic

Italian television personality and actor Fabio Canino has been appointed a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Sergio Mattarella. Canino, widely recognized for his work in theater, radio, and television—including his role as a judge on ‘Ballando con le Stelle’—expressed that he was “surprised, stupefied, and overwhelmed by emotion” upon receiving the honor.

The recognition follows Canino’s long-standing commitment to civil rights and social inclusion. Throughout his thirty-year career, he has advocated for LGBTQ+ visibility and fought against discrimination, integrating these values into his professional work. Canino noted that while his principles have occasionally presented professional obstacles, he remains committed to using his platform to promote a more inclusive society.
