Fabio Grossi, Italian director and actor, dies at 68

Italian director, actor, and playwright Fabio Grossi has died in Rome at the age of 68. Grossi was the long-term partner of actor Leo Gullotta; the two shared a relationship spanning over forty years and were married in 2019 following the introduction of civil union laws in Italy.

Grossi’s career was marked by significant artistic collaboration with Gullotta, particularly in theater. Notable works include ‘In ogni vita la pioggia deve cadere’, a production exploring the lives of two men in a committed relationship. His professional journey also included a decade of work in Sicily, ranging from musical performances like ‘Lapilli’ to a documentary on youth employment and the artistic landscape of the region.

Earlier in his career, Grossi was involved in the ‘sexy comedy’ film genre with titles such as ‘I fichissimi’ and ‘Pierino contro tutti’. He later transitioned to more diverse cinematic works, appearing in films such as Nanni Loy’s ‘Scugnizzi’ and Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘L’amico di famiglia’.
