Fabio Martini dies after fall during mushroom hunting in Orsigna

Fabio Martini, a resident of Impruneta known in San Casciano, died following a fall while mushroom hunting in the Orsigna area of the Pistoia mountains.

While accompanied by others, Martini reportedly slipped on a steep slope and fell into a ravine or riverbed, sustaining severe trauma. Emergency services, including the Tuscan Alpine and Speleological Rescue and the EliPavullo helicopter service, were deployed to the scene.

Rescue efforts were significantly hindered by severe weather and thunderstorms in the region, requiring medical personnel to be lowered to the site via winch. Despite immediate stabilization attempts and an emergency helicopter transport, Martini succumbed to his injuries.
