Fabio Picciolo sentenced to 14 years for murder of Ursula Turri

The Florence Court of Assizes has sentenced 63-year-old Fabio Picciolo to 14 years and eight months in prison for the voluntary homicide of his former partner, Ursula Turri. This appellate ruling overturns a previous acquittal issued in February 2024 by the Court of Lucca.

The case dates back to November 19, 2019, when Turri, a 49-year-old socio-sanitary worker, was found dead in her home in Barga. While initial investigations suggested a drug overdose, forensic evidence and medical expert testimony led investigators to conclude she had been suffocated with a pillow.

Key evidence used to convict Picciolo included a weak alibi, the absence of forced entry at the residence, and circumstantial evidence regarding access to the apartment. The court also ordered provisional compensation totaling 210,000 euros for the victim's family members.
