Fabio Quartararo addresses tensions with Yamaha ahead of Honda move

MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo has addressed the growing tensions between himself and Yamaha as their eight-year partnership nears its end. Following the confirmation of his move to Honda for next season, Quartararo described a difficult transition period marked by frustration with the current performance of the Yamaha motorcycle.

A significant point of contention arose when Yamaha prevented Quartararo from participating in an upcoming test in Austria, which would have allowed him to test Pirelli tires ahead of their 2027 introduction. Quartararo attributed the breakdown in their relationship to three consecutive seasons, from 2023 to 2025, where the team was unable to compete for top results after his title-contending years in 2021 and 2022.

Despite the friction, Quartararo noted that both parties have attempted to manage the situation and expressed a desire to conclude the remaining three months of their collaboration as positively as possible.
