Fabio Quartararo criticizes Mandalika safety after Indonesian GP crash
Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo experienced a high-speed crash during Friday's practice session at the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix in Mandalika. While the initial slide was not severe, Quartararo reported significant discomfort after being thrown into a roll upon hitting the gravel trap.
Quartararo stated that while nothing is broken, he is suffering from muscular pain in his thumb and shoulder. He noted that the injury to his thumb could impact his ability to use the rear brake.
The rider criticized the safety of the gravel traps at the Mandalika circuit, comparing his experience to a previous injury sustained by Marc Marquez. Quartararo suggested that the gravel area is currently too high relative to the asphalt, causing riders to 'bump in the air' when entering the trap, and urged officials to adjust the height to improve safety.
