Fable director clarifies character design changes
Ralph Fulton, the director of the upcoming Fable game, has addressed recent changes to the protagonist's appearance in promotional materials. While some players speculated that the design changes were a response to criticism regarding the original character's attractiveness, Fulton clarified that the shift is intended to showcase the game's character customization system.
Fulton explained that the team has been rotating different character models in trailers and gameplay footage, such as those shown at Gamescom 2026, to demonstrate that players can personalize their own heroes or heroines. He noted that while character creation is not a revolutionary feature for the RPG genre, the team wanted to dispel speculation about its absence.
Additionally, Fulton discussed the game's release window, noting that a 2027 launch allows the team to avoid a direct market confrontation with the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
