Fabrizio Pagani's 'Prometeo e Leviatano' to Release Aug 25, Analyzes Globalization Fragmentation

Economist Fabrizio Pagani will publish a new book titled "Prometeo e Leviatano" on 25 August, released by Italian publisher Mondadori. The work examines how recent shocks – the 2008 financial crisis, Brexit, the war in Ukraine and the return of Donald Trump – have altered the course of globalization, turning a previously integrated system into a fragmented arena of competition and distrust.

Pagani, a former adviser in the Italian government and a professor at Sciences Po, draws on his experience with the OECD, the G20 and private finance to argue that the rivalry between the United States and China now extends to semiconductors, artificial intelligence and finance. He warns that Europe risks being squeezed between these powers and calls for a balanced approach that safeguards both market openness and state security.

The book offers a perspective on trade, investment, technology restrictions, sanctions and industrial policy, suggesting that the future of the global economy will depend on how Europe and Italy navigate this new, more fragmented landscape.
