FAC conducts urban landscaping and cleaning in Campo Grande
The Urban Agriculture Technical Unit of the Community Support Fund (FAC) is conducting intensive cleaning and landscaping efforts in the central region of Campo Grande. The maintenance covers several key areas, including Avenida Afonso Pena from Rua Calógeras to the Obelisk, and Rua 14 de Julho from the Central Clock to the corner of Rua Mato Grosso.
FAC President Adir Diniz highlighted the importance of preserving green heritage, noting that gardens provide beauty and oxygen production. However, the initiative faces significant challenges from vandalism and littering. Workers report dealing with human waste, charcoal remains, glass bottles, and plastics, describing the weekly repetitive labor as “enxugar gelo” (mopping the floor with a broom).
Despite these difficulties, some community members and local merchants have stepped in to help. Residents and local workers have been seen voluntarily watering seedlings and supporting the maintenance of the flowerbeds to improve the city's environment.
