FACC expands production in Croatia, considers new R&D center

The Austrian-Chinese aerospace company FACC has opened an expanded section of its production plant in Jakovlje, Croatia. This expansion makes the Jakovlje facility the company’s largest production site outside of Austria.

During the opening ceremony, FACC CEO Robert Machtlinger announced that the company is considering establishing a center of excellence for aircraft interior development at the Croatian location. This move would transition the site from traditional manufacturing into a role involving research, development, and technological engineering.

The potential establishment of this center follows a trend of international companies setting up research and development hubs in Croatia, particularly in the IT, automotive, and pharmaceutical sectors. Other notable entities with such centers in the country include Ericsson, Teva, IBM, and Microsoft.
