FACC highlights aviation industry growth as passenger demand rises
Global passenger demand for air travel increased in July 2026 following three months of decline. According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) rose by 0.2 percent compared to the previous year. Excluding the Middle East, the growth rate reached 1.2 percent.
Regional trends showed significant variation. European airlines saw a 2.1 percent increase in passenger demand, with international traffic rising by 3.1 percent. The most substantial growth occurred on routes between Europe and Asia, which increased by 12.1 percent. Other notable increases were seen in Latin America and the Caribbean (6.1 percent) and Africa (5.2 percent).
Conversely, the Middle East experienced a 10.0 percent decline, and North America saw a 1.2 percent decrease. For the Austrian aerospace supplier FACC, these long-term passenger traffic trends are critical, as they influence the production rates of major manufacturers like Airbus and Boeing.
