Factory fire in Kuching destroys facility and damages homes
A major fire destroyed a two-storey semi-permanent factory on Semaba Road in Kuching, Sarawak. The blaze, which began on the evening of August 21, resulted in the total destruction of the 150 by 100-foot facility.
The fire also spread to nearby residential structures, causing significant damage to several homes. A semi-detached house sustained approximately 75 per cent damage, while two other houses suffered roughly 30 per cent damage each. Firefighters successfully prevented the flames from spreading to an adjacent factory.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) concluded the operation on the second day after conducting overhaul works to ensure all hotspots were extinguished. A total of 34 personnel were involved in the response. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
