Facua Cádiz urges seven municipalities to join 'Abono Único' transport program
The consumer association Facua Cádiz has formally requested that seven major municipalities in the province of Cádiz join the 'Abono Único' (Single Pass) public transport program. The request targets Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Algeciras, San Fernando, El Puerto de Santa María, Chiclana de la Frontera, and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
These specific municipalities were selected because they each exceed 50,000 inhabitants, a threshold that mandates the provision of urban collective passenger transport services under local government law. The goal of the integration is to allow travelers to use a single transport title across different services, reducing the need for multiple cards or payment systems.
The initiative follows the publication of Order TRM/910/2026 in the Official State Gazette, which regulates the program to promote public transport through a unified system. While participation by local entities is voluntary, Facua argues that incorporating municipal services into this state system will facilitate easier movement for citizens.
