Facundo Medina joins Bayer Leverkusen for €25 million

Argentine defender Facundo Medina, 27, will move from Olympique de Marseille to German club Bayer Leverkusen after the 2026 World Cup. The clubs agreed on a €25 million fee, composed of €23 million fixed and €2 million in performance bonuses. Medina has signed a five‑year contract pending a medical exam and official paperwork. The transfer provides Marseille with a significant financial boost and triggers FIFA solidarity payments to River Plate and Talleres, the clubs that helped develop the player. In Germany, Medina will join fellow Argentines Exequiel Palacios and Equi Fernández at Leverkusen. He is currently on holiday following his World Cup duties and is expected to resume training on 12 August before completing the move.
