Facundo Medina nears €25M transfer from OM to Bayer Leverkusen

Olympique de Marseille is undergoing a significant squad overhaul during the summer transfer window. Argentine defender Facundo Medina is nearing a move to Bayer Leverkusen. An agreement has reportedly been reached for a transfer fee of approximately €25 million, including bonuses. Medina is expected to travel to Germany to undergo a medical examination, with a potential contract lasting until June 2031.

As Medina prepares to depart, OM manager Bruno Genesio is managing a complex roster transition. The club is seeing several departures, including Geronimo Rulli and Mason Greenwood, while also relying on returning loanees like Angel Gomes and Amine Harit to bolster the squad. Additionally, Genesio has reportedly blocked the transfer or loan of young talents Kelyann Bezahaf and Alexi Koum to ensure depth for the upcoming season.

Despite financial constraints, the club remains interested in offensive reinforcements, specifically targeting Icelandic attacker Albert Gudmundsson, though a loan may be necessary to manage costs.
