Fadiel Adams alleges police involvement in Magaqa murder

Fadiel Adams, leader of the National Coloured Congress and suspended Member of Parliament, provided testimony to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry regarding allegations of police misconduct and corruption.

Adams alleged that Crime Intelligence officials provided the firearm and vehicle used in the 2017 murder of former ANC Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa. He claimed a suspect, Sibusiso Ncengwa, has attempted to confess to the killing for over two years and provided an affidavit to that effect. Adams also denied allegations that he drafted the affidavit or acted as a criminal operative.

During his testimony, Adams criticized KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, describing him as “provocative” and comparing him to an apartheid-era officer. This criticism stemmed from Mkhwanazi’s previous parliamentary comments regarding former MK cadres serving in the South African Police Service (SAPS). Adams further accused the Police Portfolio Committee of failing to hold the SAPS accountable for issues such as improper appointments and the procurement of redundant equipment.
