Fadiel Adams to testify before South Africa's Madlanga Commission
National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader and MP Fadiel Adams is scheduled to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on 11 August. The commission, which is probing alleged corruption, political interference and misconduct within South Africa’s Crime Intelligence service, confirmed his appearance after correspondence between Adams’ legal team and the commission’s officials.
Adams, who previously lodged a Section 27 referral complaint with the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) alleging that criminal cases against Crime Intelligence officials were being intercepted, says he acted as a whistle‑blower by forwarding sensitive documents to IDAC. He denies any wrongdoing and maintains the documents were delivered anonymously to his parliamentary office.
IDAC senior investigator Mantsha Rapesu testified that the directorate had taken disciplinary action against him and suggested that other officials attempted to frame him. The Madlanga Commission’s spokesperson Jeremy Michaels reiterated that Adams will indeed testify on the set date.
