Turkey: Drunk drivers and domestic incidents lead to heavy fines
In Kayseri, a 27-year-old driver identified as B. K. was apprehended following a police chase in the Kocasinan district. After failing to comply with a stop order, the driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.20 promil. B. K. received an administrative fine of 250,000 TL, had his driver's license confiscated for two years, and his vehicle was impounded. In Eskişehir, a 32-year-old woman, Aysun I., was seriously injured after jumping from a moving truck to escape being held against her will by her husband, Emre I. Police tracked the vehicle following reports of a woman being forcibly detained. Upon interception, Emre I. was found to be unlicensed and driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.10 promil. He was detained and issued total fines amounting to 390,000 TL.
