FAI bans Irish fan attendance for Nations League games against Israel

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) announced that Irish supporters will not be allowed to attend either of the Republic of Ireland's UEFA Nations League fixtures against Israel. Both matches will be staged in neutral venues – the September 27 “home” game for Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, and the October 4 return match in Bačka Topola, Serbia – and the FAI will not facilitate ticketing or travel for Irish fans.

The decision, justified by “operational challenges and safety & security concerns,” means a small allocation of Israeli supporters will be permitted in Debrecen, while the Serbia match will be played behind closed doors with no spectators. The arrangement removes any home‑advantage for Ireland and has drawn criticism from fan groups.
