FAI calls for revisions to Italy's Highway Code reform
The Italian Federation of Road Haulage (FAI) has called for amendments to the proposed reform of the Highway Code (Codice della strada) before it is enacted into law. The federation's national council, meeting in Milan, expressed concerns that the current text lacks sufficient preliminary consultation with industry representatives.
FAI President Paolo Uggè warned that certain provisions could ‘paralyze the sector’ and argued that some measures do not appear to improve road safety. The federation cautioned that if immediate corrections are not made, the impact on transport companies could be ‘worse than those generated by high diesel prices’.
