Fai Cisl calls for more controls on illegal agricultural labor

The Fai Cisl union is calling for increased inspections to combat illegal labor in the agricultural sector, specifically within the Taranto and Brindisi areas. General Secretary Alessandro Gesuè emphasized that workers without regular contracts are deprived of essential contractual, social security, and safety protections.

Beyond enforcement, the union highlighted a growing difficulty for agricultural companies to attract new workers, particularly from younger generations. To address this, Fai Cisl has proposed a collaboration with Arpal Puglia, trade unions, and employer associations to create specialized training and orientation programs. These initiatives aim to connect companies with unemployed individuals and youth to make the agricultural sector more attractive and formalize employment.
