FAI launches summer evening events across Italy

The Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano (FAI) is running a nationwide series of special evening openings called “Sere FAI d’estate” from early August through mid‑September 2026. Sites include the lakeside villas of Villa del Balbianello, Villa Fogazzaro Roi and the historic Velarca on Lake Como, where sunset aperitifs, guided walks and open‑air concerts are offered. In Calabria, the restored 17th‑century Casino Mollo in Spezzano della Sila hosts twilight treks, night‑time astronomy sessions with expert Francesco Veltri, traditional Calabrian music performances and beekeeping workshops, despite the nearby Riserva dei Giganti remaining temporarily closed for safety checks. Sicily’s Giardino della Kolymbethra in the Valley of the Temples adds archaeological tours, astronomical observations with the Palermo Planetarium, and musical experiments blending local and Afro‑Sicilian sounds. In Varese province, Villa Panza, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, the Monastero di Torba and Casa Macchi open after dark for concerts, children’s activities, and stargazing. All events are free or low‑cost, aim to showcase Italy’s cultural and natural heritage in a new twilight setting, and run until 13 September 2026.
