FAI partners with third sector to improve cultural accessibility in Italy
The Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI) has launched the ‘A porte aperte’ project, an alliance with third-sector organizations including Dynamo Camp ETS, Fondazione Mus-e Italia, and Fondazione IBVA. The initiative aims to promote access to cultural heritage and encourage active participation through educational, training, and artistic activities designed for students, volunteers, professionals, and families.
This development follows significant investments in Italian cultural accessibility. Between 2021 and 2026, the Ministry of Culture allocated 300 million euros from the PNRR to remove physical, cognitive, and cultural barriers across more than 1,000 cultural sites. Completed interventions include 128 projects across 797 locations and 131 energy efficiency improvements in state-owned spaces.
Additionally, the Order of Physicians and Dentists of Messina has joined the ‘FAI Community Program.’ This convention provides discounted membership rates for members and their families to support the foundation’s mission of protecting and restoring Italy’s historical, artistic, and landscape heritage.
