Faiq Bolkiah: The royal-linked footballer's journey from England to Thailand

Faiq Jefri Bolkiah, a professional footballer born in Los Angeles, has gained international attention due to his royal lineage in Brunei. The son of Prince Jefri Bolkiah and nephew of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Bolkiah chose to represent Brunei internationally despite holding American citizenship.

His football career began in England, where he trained in the academies of Southampton and Arsenal before joining Chelsea's youth system in 2014. Although he held a contract with Chelsea, he did not break into the first team. He later moved to Leicester City, where he also played for the youth squads without making a senior appearance.

Bolkiah transitioned to senior football in Portugal with Marítimo in 2020. He subsequently moved to Thailand, playing for Chonburi, where he scored his first senior goal in November 2022. Most recently, he has been associated with the Thai club Ratchaburi, though his future professional status remains to be confirmed following the expiration of his contract.
