Fair Trade Week to be held across Belgium in October 2026

The Fair Trade Week will take place across Belgium from October 7 to 17, 2026. This annual campaign aims to raise awareness about fair trade practices and encourage consumers to support small producers, particularly those in the Global South, by purchasing fair trade certified goods.

Fair trade principles include ensuring producers receive fair prices, maintaining long-term trade agreements, respecting worker and environmental rights, and improving market access. The campaign highlights a diverse range of products, including coffee, chocolate, wine, cosmetics, and clothing made from fair cotton.

In the city of Geel, which holds the status of a ‘Faire Gemeente’ (Fair Municipality), specific activities are planned. This includes an initiative at the local library where individuals can exchange UiTPAS points for fair trade chocolate bars while supplies last.
