Fairbanks man accidentally kills girlfriend and himself

A double fatality occurred in Fairbanks, Alaska, after a man accidentally shot his girlfriend and then killed himself. According to the Fairbanks Police Department, 22-year-old Landon Lowrance was playing with a revolver and pointed it at his girlfriend, 21-year-old CloeRae McBrayer, when the weapon discharged.

An unidentified friend present at the scene called 911 and attempted to physically intervene when Lowrance obtained a second firearm. Lowrance subsequently shot himself and was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

McBrayer, who had recently been accepted to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, was reportedly planning to become engaged to Lowrance that weekend. Police stated that the friend who called emergency services is not believed to have been involved in the shootings.
