Fairground launches AI-generated film channel on Roku

Fairground Entertainment has launched “Fairground AI Creator TV,” a free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel featuring content described as “AI Cinema.” The channel is available on platforms including Roku, Xumo Play, and Canela.TV.

The programming is sourced from a network of over 100 creators who utilize generative AI tools. While some critics suggest the content is produced with minimal effort, creators note that human involvement remains central to the process. For instance, some filmmakers use AI primarily for animation, visual production, voices, and music, while manually writing screenplays, characters, and emotional arcs.

Initial reception from media outlets has been highly critical, with some describing the content as “bottom-of-the-barrel slop” and “nightmare fodder.” Despite the backlash regarding quality, the channel serves as a demonstration of the rapid advancements in generative AI technology over recent years.
