Fairmount Apartments to receive $16 million for modernization

More than $16 million in federal, state, and city funding has been announced to modernize the Fairmount Apartments, a public housing community in Hyde Park, Boston. The investment aims to improve accessibility, energy efficiency, climate resilience, and flood mitigation for the development, which was originally built in 1951 and includes over 200 units of state public housing.

The funding package consists of $1 million in Community Project Funding secured by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Senators Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren, a $10 million grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, and $5 million in capital funding from the City of Boston. Additionally, the Boston Public Health Commission is providing funds for community gardens and open-space improvements.
