Fairphone announces Fairbuds 2 repairable earbuds
Fairphone has announced the Fairbuds 2, a new generation of wireless earbuds designed with a focus on repairability. The product is scheduled for official release on October 14, launching first in Europe and subsequently in the United States.
Maintaining the company’s modular philosophy, the Fairbuds 2 will feature seven fully replaceable parts. This design allows users to swap components, such as batteries, to extend the product's lifespan and avoid the waste common with traditional wireless earbuds.
Technical upgrades include support for Sony’s LDAC high-resolution audio codec, an improvement over the SBC and AAC support found in the first generation. The earbuds will launch at a price of €119 in Europe and $119 in the US, representing a lower initial launch price compared to the predecessor.
