Fairphone launches Gen 6+ modular smartphone in US market

Fairphone has launched the Fairphone (Gen. 6+), an upgraded version of its modular smartphone, marking the company’s first direct entry into the United States market. The device will be available through Fairphone’s official website and Amazon, with support for US carriers T-Mobile and AT&T.

Key hardware improvements over the previous generation include an upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and an increase in RAM from 8GB to 12GB. The device features a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a 50MP Sony LYTIA main camera, and a 4415mAh user-removable battery. It also introduces a new Cobalt Blue colorway.

Maintaining its focus on sustainability and the ‘right to repair,’ the Gen 6+ remains highly modular, allowing users to replace up to 12 components, such as the screen, USB-C port, and camera modules, using a single standard screwdriver. The company provides a five-year warranty and guarantees software updates through at least 2033. The retail price is set at approximately 649 euros or 649 dollars.
