Fairview Heights police arrest juveniles after fast-food restaurant fights
Police in Fairview Heights, Illinois, arrested two juveniles and charged a parent following a series of fights involving approximately 250 teenagers. The disturbances occurred near local fast-food establishments, including Raising Cane’s and Taco Bell, after high school football games.
Officers reported that a fight began inside a Raising Cane’s between two females, though they left before police arrived. An officer subsequently witnessed a juvenile male punching a female near a Taco Bell. During the attempt to disperse the crowd, another juvenile male allegedly refused orders to leave and lunged at an officer with raised fists before being taken into custody. The arrested juvenile was identified as the brother of the first.
The two juveniles were processed and released to their parents, with charges expected to proceed through the juvenile court system. Additionally, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged a parent with failure to supervise. The Fairview Heights Police Department stated they will strictly enforce loitering laws and warned that parents of minors loitering in the area will face charges.
