FAIS reports Neapolis Archaeological Park to privacy regulator

The Federation of Incontinence and Stoma Associations (FAIS ODV) has filed a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority regarding privacy violations at the Neapolis Archaeological Park in Syracuse.

The issue concerns entrance tickets issued to individuals entitled to free admission. The tickets automatically print the phrase “Gratuito Portatori Handicap” (Free for Persons with Disabilities) directly on the front of the ticket. FAIS argues that this practice violates the GDPR principle of data minimization, as it unnecessarily exposes sensitive health information to the public.

Because these tickets must be carried and displayed throughout a visit, the association contends that anyone seeing the ticket—including companions or bystanders—is informed of the holder's disability without their consent. The complaint seeks an intervention that extends beyond Syracuse to prevent similar practices elsewhere.
