Fake lawyer arrested for €100,000 Marbella property scam
Spanish National Police have arrested a 52-year-old woman at Malaga airport for allegedly posing as a lawyer and property intermediary to defraud an investor of €100,000.
The suspect reportedly targeted a 43-year-old investor with a luxury rental-to-buy scheme in Marbella. Through various documentary deceptions, she convinced the victim to make two cash deposits totaling €100,000 as reservation fees. The investigation revealed that she had also deceived local estate agents, gaining their trust to the point where they provided her with property keys.
To evade detection, the woman used a fictitious identity and also attempted to use her sister’s identity, including her sister's passport. Following a judge's detention order, she was apprehended at Malaga airport when fingerprint checks confirmed her true identity. She faces multiple charges, including fraud, identity theft, document forgery, tax fraud, and practicing law without qualification.
