Fake police officers scam motorist in Vaucluse

A 78-year-old driver from Avignon was targeted in a roadside scam in Le Thor, Vaucluse. During a nighttime encounter around 1:00 AM, individuals dressed in police uniforms intercepted the motorist.

The perpetrators used high-intensity lights to blind the driver and claimed his three-fold driver's license was no longer valid. Under this pretense, the scammers coerced the victim into withdrawing and paying 135 euros in cash for a fake fine. The victim has since spoken out to warn other motorists about these impersonation tactics.
