Fakultní nemocnice Hradec Králové begins construction of new infectious disease pavilion

The Faculty Hospital Hradec Králové (FN HK) has commenced construction of a new pavilion for its infectious disease and dermatology clinics. The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, has a budget exceeding one billion CZK.

Construction is currently in the deep foundation stage, utilizing piles while removing old underground structures under archaeological supervision. To ensure the stability of the neighboring Neurosurgery Clinic, technical measures including jet grouting were implemented to secure its foundation.

The new seven-story building will feature an internal atrium and 64 beds, including an intensive care unit. The facility is designed to replace the existing clinic, which has been in operation since 1928 and no longer meets modern epidemiological or medical standards. The new layout will allow for more effective patient isolation and safer operations during epidemics. The project also includes a new pumping station for infectious wastewater and modernized infrastructure.
