Falck criticized over delayed neonatal transfer to Barcelona

A neonatologist has publicly criticized the company Falck following significant delays in transferring a baby from Cartagena to a reference hospital in Barcelona. The medical professional, Joserra, described the situation as “the most surreal and least professional thing I have seen in my life” in a social media post addressed to the Catalan Medical Emergency System (SEM) and regional health authorities.

The delay involves a subcontracted service provided by Falck, which holds a multi-million euro contract with SEM. According to the report, the family faced several days of unfulfilled promises, including missed appointments and a lack of communication regarding the scheduled transfer. The neonatologist highlighted the emotional toll on the medical staff who must inform the family of the continued delays.
