Falcón authorities investigate fatal shooting in La Vela de Coro

Authorities in Falcón state are investigating the murder of 38-year-old Alirio Vargas Reyes, who was shot and killed in the El Yabo sector of La Vela de Coro. The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, August 27, at approximately 8:05 p.m. on Guaicaipuro Street.

According to reports, two unidentified armed men approached the victim and fired multiple shots at close range. Vargas Reyes, a resident of the area who used crutches due to a physical disability, sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and left intercostal region. Following the attack, the perpetrators fled into a nearby wooded area, reportedly taking advantage of poor lighting in the sector.

Officers from Polifalcón and the Scientific, Criminal, and Penal Investigation Corps (CICPC) responded to the scene to collect evidence and secure the area. The victim's body was transported by the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Senamecf) for an autopsy. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing and to identify the suspects.
