Falconara Marittima launches youth volunteer project for elderly

The municipality of Falconara Marittima has launched a new project titled ‘Un aiuto fidato sotto casa!’ (A trusted help right under your house) as part of the Universal Civil Service. Four young volunteers, aged between 20 and 25, will provide support to residents over the age of 65, as well as individuals with disabilities and those in socially fragile conditions.

The volunteers will assist with daily tasks such as grocery shopping, collecting medical prescriptions, and providing technical help with new technologies. Beyond practical assistance, the initiative aims to combat loneliness by offering companionship and social interaction.

Mayor Stefania Signorini and Social Services Councilor Ilenia Orologio met with the volunteers to introduce the program, emphasizing the importance of intergenerational connection. Residents can request assistance via a dedicated telephone number or WhatsApp message.
