Falconara Marittima wins 1.7 million euro tax dispute

The Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) has issued a final ruling in favor of the Municipality of Falconara Marittima regarding a long-standing tax dispute. The decision concludes a legal battle lasting over twelve years concerning ICI tax assessments for the years 2008 and 2009.

The dispute centered on the tax base for specific industrial components located within the refinery. The Court confirmed that essential equipment, including turbines, tanks, chimneys, pumps, fans, and boilers, must be included in the tax calculation. Consequently, the municipality is set to receive approximately 1.7 million euros. Italiana Petroli, which took over the management of the plant, has also been ordered to pay legal expenses and additional sums.
