Falconara police fine parents after park fire started by minors

Local police in Falconara have identified four minors, aged between 12 and 15, responsible for starting a fire in Kennedy Park on the morning of July 12. The group used weeds and pine needles to ignite vegetation during a period of high drought and fire risk.

Although the youths fled before authorities arrived, police used park surveillance footage and local information to identify the individuals. The two fathers involved were fined 200 euros each for violating urban police regulations that prohibit burning leaves or brush within inhabited areas.

Local police assessor Luca Cappanera noted that while the act may have seemed like a game to the children, it posed a serious risk to the city's green heritage and public safety due to the dry summer conditions.
