Fall Creek and Berryum showcase new berry varieties at Fruit Attraction
At Fruit Attraction 2026 in Madrid, agricultural companies Fall Creek and Berryum Varieties showcased new berry genetics designed to meet consumer demands for quality and shelf life.
Fall Creek introduced new blueberry varieties, including Everlast™ ‘FC11-164’ and Sekoya® Nova ‘FC15-173’, alongside low-chill requirement options. The company is also expanding its portfolio into raspberries and blackberries. Fall Creek’s research emphasizes improving flavor, texture, and durability at a genetic level to prevent consumer disappointment caused by soft fruit or premature spoilage.
Berryum Varieties presented five new blackberry varieties characterized by large fruit size, high sugar levels, and balanced acidity. These varieties offer a shelf life of up to 18 days and include thornless options. Berryum is increasingly utilizing genomic analysis, omics data management, and artificial intelligence to enhance its genetic selection and breeding processes.
