Fall food trends and seasonal dietary management

As fall festivities and gatherings increase, seasonal food consumption often brings challenges such as heartburn. A survey by the PEPCID® brand indicates that nearly half of respondents knowingly consume foods they expect will trigger acid reflux, with 80% stating certain foods are “worth the risk.”

To manage symptoms during autumn meals, strategies include elevating the upper body or standing up after eating to prevent stomach acid from flowing into the esophagus, loosening tight clothing around the waist to reduce stomach pressure, and chewing gum to increase saliva production and clear acid from the esophagus.

Seasonal culinary trends for fall gatherings emphasize flavors such as pumpkin, apple, cranberry, and warm spices. Popular appetizer ideas include black truffle stuffed baked brie, roasted garlic pumpkin hummus, and baked brie topped with cranberries and pecans.
