False rumors of school knife attacks cause panic in Manisa and Istanbul

False rumors regarding knife attacks at schools in Manisa and Istanbul have caused significant panic among parents.

In Manisa’s Yunusemre district, parents rushed to Çağatay Uluçay Primary and Middle School after reports circulated about a suspect. While police did apprehend a suspicious individual carrying a knife during a routine check, the Manisa Governor's Office and the Provincial Directorate of National Education clarified that no attack occurred at or near the school and that educational activities continued without threat to student safety.

Similarly, in Istanbul’s Sancaktepe district, rumors spread via WhatsApp and social media claiming a student had entered İbni Sina Middle School with a knife. Although police evacuated students as a precaution, investigations confirmed the claims were entirely unfounded. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing unverified information to prevent unnecessary panic.
