Falun Gong practitioners face widespread persecution in China

Reports from Minghui indicate widespread persecution of Falun Gong practitioners across various regions in China. In July 2026, at least 490 practitioners were reported to have suffered different forms of persecution, including 58 illegal sentences, 204 abductions, and 223 cases of harassment.

Specific incidents include the death of 65-year-old Yang Jinhui in a Yunnan detention center following her abduction by railway police. In Gansu, four practitioners and one family member were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 1.5 to 3 years. In Yunnan, a water conservancy expert and his wife, both former professionals, were criminally detained after a police raid on their home.

Other reported cases involve elderly practitioners in Shaanxi facing house searches and threats, as well as various abductions and illegal trials in Hebei, Jilin, Ningxia, Liaoning, Tianjin, and Shandong provinces. Authorities reportedly seized personal property, including computers and books, during these operations.
