Prof. Dr. Kılıç issued a message commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the liberation of Famagusta. In the statement, Kılıç highlighted the city's strategic importance as a major port in the Eastern Mediterranean and its significance in the struggle for the security and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people.

The message noted that the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation marked a turning point in the city's history, leading to its liberation. Kılıç emphasized the importance of preserving Famagusta's cultural heritage, historical walls, and unique urban fabric while continuing its development in education, science, culture, tourism, and economy.

Furthermore, Kılıç addressed the role of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in the region, stating that the institution maintains a strong bond with the city and contributes to the scientific and cultural development of both Famagusta and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by hosting students and academics from around the world.
