Famagusta Port police seize 10 pistols hidden in truck

Police in Famagusta have launched an investigation after discovering 10 Glock 9mm pistols, 10 magazines, and 50 live rounds hidden in a secret compartment of a truck at the Famagusta Port. The operation, conducted by the Crime Prevention Branch on September 23, targeted a truck that arrived from Mersin via the vessel ‘DeepKarpaz’.

Two suspects, identified as S. S. and S. C., were arrested during the operation. S. S. was apprehended at the port while attempting to collect the vehicle, and S. C., described as a driver coordinator, was subsequently detained. Both suspects appeared before the Famagusta Court, where they denied involvement with the weapons. The court has ordered their continued detention for an additional two days.

Authorities are currently searching for two additional individuals believed to be connected to the incident. Investigators are working to determine the origin of the weapons, their intended recipients, and whether the firearms are linked to recent high-profile crimes in the region. The seized items have been sent for ballistic examination.
