Fameg, historic Polish furniture maker, files for bankruptcy
Fameg, a historic Polish furniture manufacturer based in Radomsko, has filed for bankruptcy. The company, which has produced bentwood furniture since 1881, submitted its application on September 29, 2026, and the filing was entered into the records of the District Court in Piotrków Trybunalski on October 1.
Despite a previous restructuring plan approved by a court in March 2025, the company's financial situation continued to deteriorate. Fameg had a significant international presence, selling products in over 50 countries. In 2024, the company reported sales revenues of 99.89 million PLN, with exports accounting for 45 percent of that total.
The bankruptcy filing puts approximately 518 jobs at risk, including 398 production workers. Fameg CEO Tadeusz Polanowski noted that bankruptcy does not necessarily mean the end of the factory, as it may allow for the potential sale of assets or the continuation of business operations under new management.
