Familial DNA leads to conviction in Allison Feldman murder case

The 2015 murder of Allison Feldman in Scottsdale, Arizona, was eventually solved through the use of familial DNA, a forensic tool previously unused in the state. Feldman, a 31-year-old medical sales professional, was found dead in her home on February 18, 2015, after her family and boyfriend grew concerned when she failed to communicate.

Following a three-year investigation, forensic advancements allowed investigators to secure a conviction. The case and the subsequent legal battles regarding the use of DNA evidence are the subject of an ABC ‘20/20’ episode titled ‘Home Alone.’

Feldman’s family, including her parents Harley and Elayne and her sister Kelly, became activists following her death. Their efforts to seek justice influenced the handling of other murder cases within Arizona.
